DMP-207 (260-2917) Options Faxback Doc. # 6684

This section describes the options that are available for the DMP-207
printer. The options include:

Tractor unit with Paper Support (260-2918) at CMC.
Color Ribbon (260-2826) also for the DMP 240.

THE TRACTOR UNIT

With the optional tractor unit, the DMP-207 can print on various
continuous-feed papers including 3-part carbonless forms (on original and
two copies).

INSTALLING THE TRACTOR UNIT

1. Before installing the tractor unit, you must pop out the two covers
from each tractor mount at the rear of the printer. While holding the
tab, gently press the cover into the printer case until the tab breaks
free. Be careful that the covers don't fall inside the printer.
    Remove and discard the covers.

2. Place the tabs at the bottom of the tractor unit into the mounting arm
on each side of the printer.

3. Rotate the top of the unit upward and into the tractor mounts. Press
each side of the tractor unit until it locks into place in each
tractor mount. Be sure the cams on the bottom of the tractor unit
engage the paper release levers protruding from the printer.

4. Move the tractor lever rearward to engage the tractor unit. DMP-207
prints on continuous-feed paper whenever the tractor unit is engaged.

You can easily switch between continuous-feed paper and single sheet paper
by simply moving the tractor lever. The DMP-207 prints on continuous-feed
paper when the tractor lever is in the rear position. It prints on single
sheets (using either the automatic sheet feeder or the manual feeder) when
the lever is in the forward position.

LOADING CONTINUOUS PAPER

1. Place a stack of continuous-feed paper behind your printer so the
paper can flow freely into the tractor unit.

2. Unlock the tractor feeders by pulling the lock levers forward. Slide
them left and right to the approximate paper width. Lock the left
    feeder in place.

3. Flip open both tractor feeder covers and position the paper's left
sprocket holes over the tractor pins on the left tractor feeder. Snap
it closed. Position the paper's right sprocket holes over the tractor
pins on the right tractor feeder and snap it closed. Moved the right
tractor feeder gently until the paper is just taut between the two
    feeders. Lock the lock lever.

Look at the paper's edge and be sure it is straight. Paper that enters
the printer crooked or off-center can cause a paper jam.

4. Set the tractor lever to the rear position.

5. Turn on the printer. The printer will be off-line, and the
POWER/PAPER OUT indicator flashes indicating the printer is out of
    paper.

6. Press the LOAD/PARK key. The printer loads the continuous-form paper
and automatically moves it to the starting position.

7. Put the printer on line, and you're ready to print. When it receives
the command from your software, the DMP-207 advances the continuous-
feed paper to the top-of-form position and prints the document.

SPECIAL FEATURES

The DMP-207 is designed with unique and sophisticated--but easy to use--
paper movement features when continuous paper is used in the push tractor
position. Basically, the DMP-207 has three paper positions: parked, top-
of-form, and tear-off. The parked position allows you to use single
sheets without removing your continuous forms. The top-of-form position
is where printing begins on a page. The tear-off position places the
perforation at the tear bar, making it easy to remove a form. They
operate sequentially using the LOAD/PARK key. The sequence works like
this:

With paper in the parked position, pressing the LOAD/PARK key feeds the
  paper to the top-of-form position.

With paper in the top-of-form position, pressing the LOAD/PARK key feeds
the paper to the tear-off position.

With paper in the tear-off position, pressing the LOAD/PARK key retracts
the paper to the park position.

The sequence starts again if you press the LOAD/PARK key again.
