Installing the Software

Before you can use your PC TV adapter, you must load one of the supplied PC
TV utilities onto your computer's hard disk. Your PC TV Adapter comes with
both a 5 1/4-inch and a 3 1/2-inch installation diskette. Use the diskette
that corresponds to Drive A on your system.

Insert the correct diskette in your computer's Drive A and type:

   dir a:

If you see the file readme.txt, type:

   more <a:readme.txt

The latest corrections or changes to the software or this manual appear on
the screen. Press the space bar to advance to the next screen if
appears at the bottom of the screen.

If you are not running Windows, you only need to follow the steps given
under "Installing the MS-DOS Utility" to install the software. If you are
running Windows, follow the steps under "Installing the Windows Utility."

Note: The Windows installation also installs the MS-DOS utilities. If you
want to use both versions, follow the instructions in "Installing the
MS-DOS Utility" to edit your computer's PATH statement.

INSTALLING THE MS-DOS UTILITY

To install the PC TV utility for MS-DOS, insert the correct size diskette
in your computer's Drive A. Then type the following to copy the MS-DOS
PC TV Utility to the hard drive.

   c: <ENTER>
   cd/ <ENTER>
   mkdir PCTV <ENTER>
   cd PCTV <ENTER>
   copy a:pctv.exe c: <ENTER>
   copy a:channels.exe c: <ENTER>

Use a text editor to edit your computer's AUTOEXEC.BAT file to add c:\pctv
to the PATH statement. Your PATH statement varies, depending on other
applications you have installed in your system. Here is an example of a
PATH statement:

   PATH C:\;C:\DOS;C:\UTILS;C:\BIN;C:\PCTV

This completes the installation procedure for the MS-DOS PC TV utility.
Reset your computer and proceed to "Setting the Active Channels."

INSTALLING THE WINDOWS UTILITY

To install the PC TV utility for Windows, insert the correct size diskette
in your computer's Drive A. Then start Windows and follow these steps from
the Windows Program Manager.

1 Select file, then select Run.

2. At the command line prompt type a:\setup and press ENTER.

3. The setup program prompts you for the name of the directory where you
want to install the utility. Type a directory name, or press ENTER to
accept the default selection of c:\pctv.

The setup program makes the directory, copies the program files, and
creates a new program group for the PCT TV utility.

4. If you want to move the PC TV utility icon to another program group and
delete the PC TV program group, follow the instructions given in the
Windows User's Guide to do so.
