Defining Channels

The Windows PC TV Control Panel lets you designate channels by their
station identifier, or call letters (for example,KTVT,KDFW,CNN, and so on)
up to 11 characters.

To define a channel's name, select a channel. Then click on ADD and enter
the station's identifier at the prompt. To remove a channel from the list,
select the station identifier from the list and click on REMOVE.

SETTING THE ACTIVE CHANNELS

The CHANNELS.EXE program lets you customize the TV channels for your
broadcast area or cable TV service. The program lets you have the PC TV
utility skip tuning to channels that are not active in your area.

Note: You must run the PC TV utility at least once before you run
CHANNELS.EXE.

To run the CHANNELS.EXE program, type this at the MS-DOS prompt:

   c: <ENTER>
   cd\directory <ENTER>
(Replace directory with the name of the directory you
copied CHANNELS.EXE into. For example if you used \pctv
   as the directory, type cd\pctv.)
   channels <ENTER>

Use the arrow keys to select a channel you want to activate or deactivate.
Press the space bar to toggle the channel indicator. When the channel
position displays "__", you cannot select the channel when you use the
PC TV utility.

When the channel position displays the channel number, you can select the
channel when you use the PC TV utility.

When you have configured all channels, press ENTER to save the channel
configuration and return to the MS-DOS prompt.

Note: The channel display shown below is an example for broadcast TV.
When you connect cable TV, the utility displays more channel positions.
