TAD-345 (430-0700) Security Codes Faxback Doc. # 3628

To help prevent unauthorized remote operation, the TAD uses two security
codes. The remote security code gives you access to all remote
operations, including voice mail feature. The voice mail security code
gives you remote access to the voice mail feature.

The remote security code is preset to 000. The voice mail security code
is preset to 001. For greater security, we recommend you change these
codes.

REMOTE SECURITY CODE

Select a three-digit code for the remote security code. You will enter
the remote security code by pressing a series of buttons, as follows:

    TO ENTER: YOU PRESS:

     1 VOICE MAIL
     2 ANNOUNCE RECORD
     3 MEMO
     4 2-WAY RECORD
     5 ERASE\REWIND
     6 FAST-F
     7 REWIND
     8 STOP
     9 PLAY
     0 ANSWER

For example, to enter the remote security code 359, you press MEMO,
ERASE\REWIND, and PLAY. To enter 555, you press ERASE\REWIND three times.

Write down the bottom sequence for the code you want to use. Then,
complete the following steps to change the remote security code. This
automatically changes the voice mail security code, also.

1 Set MASTER POWER to OFF. The POWER indicator goes off.

2 While you press and hold down STOP, set MASTER POWER to ON.
The POWER indicator lights and a long beep sounds. When this
      happens, release the STOP key.

3 Press the button sequence for the code you selected. After you
enter the third digit, a long beep sounds.

NOTE: You have 7 seconds to enter each digit. If you wait longer, the TAD
sounds 8 short beeps. If this happens, begin again at STEP 1.

VOICE MAIL SECURITY CODE

The TAD automatically assigns the voice mail security code. The first two
digits are the same as the remote security code. The third digit is 1
higher than the remote code's third digit. If the remote code's third
digit is 9, the voice mail code's third digit is 0.

Here are some examples:

  REMOTE Voice Mail
   123 124
   919 910
   009 000
