Connecting External Options:

Connecting a Printer or other Parallel Device:

You can connect a printer or other parallel device to the parallel
connector on the back of the computer.

The parallel port allows either one-way or two-way data transfer. In
one-way transfer, the computer uses the port only to send data to the
parallel device. In two-way (bidirectional) transfer, the computer uses the
port to send output to the parallel device and to receive input from the
device.

After you connect the parallel device, run the setup utility.

1. Connect the monitor.

You can connect any monochrome or color, fixed- or multiple-frequency,
interlaced or non-interlaced VGA analog monitor. However, some video
   modes require specific monitor frequencies.

2. Connect the keyboard. Place the keyboard at least 2 inches from the
   front of the computer.

CAUTION: The computer can overheat is the ventilation slots on the front of
the computer are blocked.

3. Connect all other cables. Some connectors are for options that might not
   be part of your system.

Connecting a Modem or other Serial Device:

You can connect a serial device to each serial port on the back of the
computer. After you connect a serial device, run the setup utility.
