 NOTE
Terminator on DK326C has the semiconductor switch internally, and
installing and removing of terminator is performed by this switch
and jumper setting instead of physical installing and removing of
terminator. So some power source is always required to operate
semiconductor switch in any terminators of the drives on SCSI Bus
cable. Otherwise the impedance of this Bus network will be pulled
down and correct termination will not be kept.

 Mounting
 --------
Mount the drive four screws by properly inserting them trhough 4
 holes in the drive. (Screw's torque: 6 8KG-cm (2.36 3.15Kg-inch).
Clearance not less than 3mm around HDA is required to accommodate any
 possible vibration of HDA itself.

 Cooling
 -------
The cooler the opearating temperature within the specification, the
higher the reliability of the drive. When you install the drive in a
cabinet or box, ventilate it using a fan. It is desirable that the
temperature around the drive be kept at almost the same as room
 temperature.

 NOTE1
The SCSI bus can accommodate a maximum of eight (Single-Ended) units
including the host processor, DK326C units, and other SCSI devices.

 NOTE2
Every DK326C unit is furnished with a terminator module. The
terminator module of the drives other than the last drive (end of
 SCSI cable) must be removed.

When multiple drives are connected to each other in a "daisy-chain"
connection, total length of cable B should not exceed the recommended
 maximum cable length.

To improve the interface noise elimination, especially if the cables
run close to noise generating devices or come out of the frame,
 shield the cables as necessary.

HITACHI DK326C SPECIFICATION K6600650 12/93

 Product Specifications
 ----------------------
 The DK326C disk storage is a high-speed, large-capacity enhancement
of the existing DK325 disk storage. The DK326C has high-performance
sputtered disks and thin film heads sealed in a dust-proof enclosure.
It adopts a voice coil motor for driving the magnetic heads. It
features large capacity, high-speed positioning, and high reliability
for its compact size. The interface that the DK326C uses is a SCSI-2
interface, supporting ANSI SCSI and the CCS.

 FIFO Buffer
 -----------
DK326C SCSI controller has 448K (64Kx7) bytes of FIFO buffer. This
data buffering feature prevents the delay from being brought about
during reconnect processing and reduces the latency time that is
otherwise generated by the difference in the data rate between the
 two devices.

 Automatic error correction
 --------------------------
The controller uses 12 bytes of ECC to automatically correct read
 errors.

 Automatic error retry
 ---------------------
The controller automatically retries whenever disk accesses occur.

 Self-diagnosis
 --------------
After power up drive performs self-diagnosis automatically. In order
to achieve higher reliability controller performs self-diagnostic
operation in about every five seconds.

 Seek error retry
 ----------------
The controller makes a maximum of 4 retries when a seek fault or ID
mismatch error (the head is positioned on an invalid track) occurs.
A seek error retry is executed with a rezero operation.
(The controller makes a retry oneself before the host makes a retry.)
Retry execution time is not more than 110 msec times the number of
 retries.
