FLIGHT OF THE AMAZON QUEEN by INTERACTIVE BINARY ILLUSIONS

Animated Adventure
------------------

Review by Lu Richardson

Apart from the rather odd intro, everything else will seem very
familiar to you when you start playing this game. Particularly if
you have played Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis: same
excellent graphics and animation, easy interface, cute sound
effects, blond antihero and mad professor. It's even funny, at
times.

Really, you can't fault this game on any of these accounts. Perhaps
the interface could have been a little cleverer, since you find
yourself doing rather strange things when you don't want to because
you've clicked the wrong button, but that is not a real problem, I'm
just picking nits. At least you get a nice clear play area with the
commands and inventory neatly tucked beneath. Sweep the mouse over
them and you get all the information you need. Scrolling through
your items can be a lengthy affair, and you tend to forget the ones
not in view, but its still a nice and easy method of controlling the
game.

The puzzles you have to solve to get anywhere are so very simple you
won't even think about their solution, since you start looking for
odd twists where there are none. You get given plenty of clues, so
there is no excuse for getting stuck. But perhaps, for that very
reason, people will (it can't be THAT simple, they'll say to
themselves).

Not terribly original, not terribly difficult, but very pleasant to
look at and fun to play. Experienced adventures will have seen it
all before and won't get very excited, but newcomers to the world of
computer games should enjoy it very much. And, let's face it, its
not as if we are in a position to look the jolly old gift horse in
the mouth, what with the present scarcity of good adventure games...
