System 712 (130-1257) Maintenance Faxback Doc. # 7856

CAUTION: Always turn off the system and disconnect the power cord from
          the electrical outlet before cleaning.

Follow a careful maintenance schedule to get the best performance and
prolong the system's life.

Cleaning the Cabinet

Do not use Benzene, thinner, or similar solvents, harsh detergents or
abrasive cleaners to clean the cabinet. Wipe off dust and stains with a
soft cloth moistened only with a mild soap and water solution.

Cleaning the Tape Deck

The tape heads, pinch rollers, and capstan require periodic cleaning every
10 to 15 hours of tape play. To clean, insert a head cleaning cassette,
available at your local Radio Shack store, into the player and operate the
system in a normal manner for 1 to 2 minutes, or follow the instructions
included with the head cleaner cassette. You can also clean the deck
parts by hand by using a cotton swab moistened with a head cleaner
solution, available at your local Radio Shack store. Gently rub the tape
heads, pinch roller, and capstan with the moist cotton swab.

Cassette Tapes

Your equipment is engineered to provide many hours of trouble-free
enjoyment. It is precision built, inspected, and tested to insure
high-quality workmanship and lasting reliability. It is important that
this equipment be used only with cassettes produced by recognized
"Brand-Name" manufacturers. We suggest that, in the event of a seemingly
faulty system, you first test the system with a top-quality cassette prior
to returning the equipment to your local Radio Shack store for assistance.
