WP-101 (260-3970) Store Memory Faxback Doc. # 5192

INITIALIZE STORE MEMORY

Initializing the store memory erases all the files in either the built-in
memory or the card memory. Before using a new card, you must initialize it to
set up all the space in the card memory. The built-in memory is initialized
at the factory, so there is no need to initialize it again before you use it.

Press MENU to display the menu screen. Be sure to select the store memory
you want to initialize--built-in or card memory.

WARNING: If you initialize a store memory that contains any files, these
         files are completely erased.

Press 8. The initialize memory screen appears and asks if you really want
to initialize it.

Press N to cancel the initialize function and return to the menu. Press Y
to initialize the store memory.

After you press Y to initialize the built-in memory, the WP-101 displays
a warning screen to be sure you really want to initialize the built-in mem-
ory. (This warning screen does not appear when you initialize the card mem-
ory.)

Press CODE + MENU to proceed with initialization. Press any other key to
cancel the initialize function and return to the menu.

SELECT STORE MEMORY

The store memory is where you store your documents. The WP-101 has two
types of store memory--built-in memory and the optional card memory (260-
3971).

To switch between the built-in and card memories, press MENU to display
the menu screen. Look at the store memory selection window in the menu dis-
play to see which memory is selected. Use <- or -> to change from one store
memory to the other.

STORE A FORMAT

If you frequently use a particular page format, you can save this format
as a format file in the store memory and then recall it before you begin each
new document. This is a time-saving feature because you do not have to reset
each of your document's page format settings: right margin, left margin, hot
zone, paper width, paper length, top margin, and bottom margin. You can also
save the pitch and line space settings.

To save a format file to the store memory:

1. Press MENU to display the menu screen.

2. Press 4 to clear the text in the work memory.

3. Press 1 to display the text screen.

4. Press FORMAT and change the settings to match the page format you want to
use. Refer to "Format" in the "Text Issues" section.

5. To change the pitch and line space settings, see "Change Pitch" and
"Change Line Spacing" in the "Text Issues" section.

6. Press MENU to return to the menu screen. Select the store memory--built-in
memory or card memory--where you want to store the format file.

7. Press 3 to display the store text screen. Store the format file just as
you would store a text file. For more information, see "Save a Document."

To recall a format file, see "Recall a Format."

STORE TEXT

Before you turn off your word processor, be sure to save your document from
work memory to store memory. See "Save a Document."

WORK MEMORY FULL

You can type up to 24,000 characters in the work memory. The memory coun-
ter in the status area shows the percentage of the work memory remaining.
When the remaining work memory goes down to 1% and there is text in the copy/
move memory, a window appears asking you if you want to clear the copy/move
memory.

The text in the copy/move memory stays there until you copy or move anot-
her section of text. The copy/move memory is actually part of the work mem-
ory. You can make more space for text in the work memory by clearing the
copy/move memory. (For more information, see "Copy" and "Move Text" in "Text
Issues."

Press Y to clear the copy/move memory, Then, continue typing text.
If the remaining work memory drops to 1% when there is no text in the
copy/move memory, the message Work memory is full appears for a few seconds.
When you see this message, you know that you can enter no more than 240
additional characters. Finish typing text. A beep sounds as you type each
character.

Press MENU to return to the menu screen. Store the current text to the
store memory and then clear the text from the work memory. Continue your
document as a separate file.

When the remaining work memory is down to 60 characters or less, the mes-
sage Work memory is full appears every time you type a character. You are
very close to filling up the work memory. Finish typing text before the work
memory is completely full.
